In order to improve conditions for spawning salmon over 5000 tons of gravel and rock were placed in the river bed. A riparian zone was protected by 3500m of fencing and planted with river bank plants. In a few months Salmon redd counts had increased significantly .

Cummirk river

On the Cummirk river there were areas where the river bank was badly eroded and was prone to flooding . We constructed revetments using willow spiling , rock rolls , brash and coir rolls. The willow established well and has withstood some very strong flood events.

Ballykelly reed bed construction

This scheme involved growing from seed over 150,000 wetland plants for the final filtration of sewage at the waste water treatment works in Ballykelly, Londonderry.
